About Us: The Author of Fearless Public Speaking

About Us

Nick Ofner is a consultant and coach for people wishing to overcome their fears of public speaking.

He lives in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada with his wife, daughter and twin boys.

Nick has been doing some sort of public speaking for about 25 years. (We all have to do some type of speaking at some time!) But in the beginning he never liked it. Nick even said, “For the first 15 of those 25 years I’d avoid public presentations like the plague.” (Not something you’d expect from someone who’s spoken to over 2000 people at a time.)

He can credit the beginning of his ‘career’ to the 8th grade of elementary school. There was a speech contest in class, (as there is in every class,) and he was dreading it. However, this time his mom decided that she would coach Nick through the writing and presentation. Having been a member of Toastmistress, which used to be the women’s side of Toastmasters she was well qualified. Too qualified as it turned out. For, not only did Nick win the class contest, but his school contest as well. This meant he had to compete in front of numerous other schools with parents, teachers and other students in attendance.

Although he didn’t go further than that in grade 8, Nick has gone on to present over 500 presentations all over Canada and in Japan for audiences ranging from 2 to over 2000. He followed in his mother’s footsteps and is currently a member of Toastmasters, where he has held the position of President and Vice President of Education of his chapter. Nick also taught elementary school for over 10 years doing presentations on a daily basis in front of his students.
